Two Thirds of Schools Found to Have Poor Fire Protection

Inspections carried out at 1,000 schools and universities over the past two years showed 67% of schools across England have poor fire protection, with only 5% being recorded as having excellent protection.

The inspections were carried out by Zurich Municipal, who insures around half of all schools and universities across the UK.

Inspectors looked for Sprinklers being installed, building combustibility as well as fire detection systems and smoking controls.

Tilden Watson, the head of education at Zurich stated;
