Scrapyard theft worth over £10,000

A scrapyard in Dumfries, Scotland has seen tools and equipment worth over £10,000 stolen during the morning of Saturday 23rd February.

Police are currently investigating CCTV for the stolen items which included, 3 orange Husqvarna Stihl saws, 2 Makita Stihl saws. 1 orange chainsaw and a green Mcintyre Cable Stripper alongside Scania batteries and catalytic converters.

Constable Laura Patron, Police Scotland stated

“These items are bulky and heavy and several people would have to be involved in the theft. We would like to hear from anyone who may have been around the area of the scrapyard or saw a large white van in the area during the early hours of Saturday morning.”

However, thieves don’t just break into sites that are unattended. If they believe you have anything valuable within the premises they will take any opportunity to get to it.

In Essex, an estate agent was the victim of a distraction theft which saw a four figure sum of money stolen.
