On Thursday 28th March 2019, a Thornton High School was burgled for the second time in 2 months, with the school originally being targeted during February 2019.
Shortly after 3PM, 6 bikes were stolen from Millfield High School, with one student being a victim during both thefts.
The school believe the thieves used bolt cutters to access the bike shed, after hundreds of pounds had been spent improving it.
Millfield head teacher, Nicola Reagan has stated
“Pupils bikes would be moved to another location in the future to prevent further thefts”
After hearing about the theft, several posts were published on social media by concerned residents. Alerting a dog walker who found 4 bikes, hidden in a nearby park within the bushes. However 2 bikes still remain missing.
We understand that schools have a large amount of high value but small equipment that could easily be targeted on site, therefor if it is possible for anyone to walk into your school, attention should be paid the security.
