Residents Evacuated From Retirement Home After Huge Blaze in Crew

Firefighters from Cheshire Fire and Rescue battled through the night after a retirement complex caught fire on Thursday 8th August 2019.

The incident at Beechmere complex in Rolls Avenue, Crew was first reported at 4.30PM. However, by 10 PM there were 16 fire crews from Cheshire, Staffordshire, Shropshire and Merseyside attending the incident.

150 residents had to be evacuated due to the fire. Some of the residents have now been relocated to crises accommodation, while others were taken to an emergency rest centre.

It is currently unclear how the fire started, however the building has sustained significant damage and partially collapsed.
