Police Appeal For Information Following £100k Roadworks Theft

North Yorkshire Police are appealing for information following the theft of high-value equipment during June 2019 from a roadworks site.

Suspects cut a lock and chain to gain entry into a compound on the A167, between Darlington and Northallerton Road.

A low loader and its contents were then stolen during the raid.

The low loader is a white King 28 tonne 3 axle low loader plus trailer, with the registration AT04 RST. Other items stolen in the theft include a white 50-tonne cement silo, an orange JCB GS2000 generator and a large white fuel tank containing red diesel.

Police are urging people working at building and roadwork sites to check their security arrangements, especially those in rural areas.

PC Rob Davies, North Yorkshire Police’s Rural Taskforce stated

“By their nature, building sites and compounds are vulnerable and attractive targets for criminals.”

Thefts on building sites can often be very expensive to the business. Therefore consider installing CCTV, an Intruder Alarm or an Access Control system to add extra security to your site.
