Landlord Fined £13,000 For Fire Safety Breaches

A landlord has been ordered to pay a £12,000 fine and £1,000 costs after his property in London was found to be breaching fire safety regulations. 

Following complaints from neighbours regarding the living conditions of the property, an inspection was carried out by the environmental health officer. 

The property, which was a house in multiple occupancy (HMO), had no mains Smoke Alarm System, was lacking Fire Doors and a poorly repaired kitchen window. 

The landlord was served with an improvement notice however sufficient improvement were not made in the timescales set.
