Fire and rescue services responded to 238,000 false alarm call outs across England in 2018/2019 making it the highest recording in 5 years.
Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service also record a five year high for false alarm call outs attended.
In the 12 months leading to April 2019, Home Office figures showed the fire service responded to 3,429 call outs which proved to be false alarms.
Common false call outs were caused by people accidentally setting of fire alarms.
Calls were also being made in good faith, where the caller believed the incident required the fire brigade.
The Fire Service also responded to 48 malicious false alarms where the caller knew the incident was non-existent.
