Gunter Primary School in Erdington, Birmingham suffered its second break-in within 4 days with IT equipment taken both times.
On Wednesday 26th June, a thief smashed a window to gain entry into the school before stealing 4 tablet devices. The devices were meant to be used by the early year’s pupils to aid their education.
The second incident happened on Saturday 29th June. A door was smashed open and four laptops stolen after a thief used a crowbar to open a locked cabinet.
Both incidents were captured on CCTV and footage handed into the police.
Headteacher Lucy Riley quoted;
“We have to cover the cost of repairs as well as replacing the stolen equipment. It is soul destroying when we work so hard to give our children the best experience. The laptops stolen were the ones we bought last year when we had another break in. It’s never ending”
There are a number of security devices available to protect your premises. While CCTV can provide valuable evidence for the police, other equipment such as Intruder Alarms and a SmokeCloak device can be used to protect your valuable equipment.
