Arsonists Damage Former American Adventure Building Site

During April 2019, a raging fire has destroyed four diggers on the building site where American Adventure used to stand.

The fire is believed to have been started deliberately.

The site is now being used for a new housing project which is being overseen by Waystone. The plans will include over 300 homes, education facilities and a retail park.

Police are treating the fire as arson and have begun a criminal investigation.

Firefighters from four stations and two counties attended the blaze, arriving at 10.30PM and not leaving until the following morning.

On arrival Firefighters found, there were five separate sets of fires around the site, which had to be extinguished using one mainline and one hose reel jet.

Three JCB Excavators and another Caterpillar Crawler Loader all destroyed, the vehicles are not owned by Waystone, and were subcontracted from J C Balls.

Fortunately, no one was injured during the fire.

Helen Mcloughlin, the Development Director for Waystone stated

“It’s incredibly disappointing and not something that we expected. It’s a bit of a mystery as to why they did it, because they didn’t steal anything.”
