The Palace Hotel, located in the heart of Manchester City Centre, is a grade 2 listed Victorian building featuring the distinctive clock tower which is one of the city’s best known landmarks. Built in the late 1800’s, the building has been used as a hotel since 1994 and now features 252 bedrooms.
Due to a complete internal refurbishment, the Palace Hotel contacted Assured Fire & Security to install and commission a fire suppression system for a new kitchen within the hotel. Assured Fire & Security Consultant, Fraser Andrews, completed a comprehensive site survey in order to design a tailored Ansul fire suppression system suitable for the new kitchen, which would ensure the kitchen and the building were protected from the effects of a potential fire.
Assured are experts in designing and installing fire suppression systems including gaseous fire suppression, watermist fire suppression, foam deluge and Ansul R-102 Restaurant Fire Suppression Systems. Ansul impose high standards to achieve before certifying companies as approved installers and system designers. Comprehensive engineer training, in-depth suppression system design courses, and standards to meet to certify and approve each new installation are just some of the procedures that we have to meet to be an approved installer.
Fraser says: “With the age and the stunning architecture of the listed building, along with the recent devastation suffered by the Randolph Hotel in Oxford due to a kitchen fire, ensuring the hotel had sufficient fire protection in a high risk area such as the restaurant kitchen was imperative.”
