Fire Suppression ensures Hotel’s Compliance

Chichester Park Hotel

Chichester Park Hotel is an independent 81 bedroom hotel in the leafy suburb of Westhampnett, Chichester. They offer 3 star accommodation and venue hire facilities.

Following an audit of their fire safety responsibilities, the hotel’s insurance company Royal Sun Alliance, identified that a kitchen fire suppression system was required for the hotel’s busy kitchen. Able to cater for up to 200 guests, and with a thriving wedding venue business, it was imperative that the hotel was protected against the potential loss of business caused by fire, and complied with the insurance company’s requirements.

Paul Savage, Assured Fire & Security’s Fire Suppression Consultant, says ‘The hotel not only needed to look at complying with their insurance company’s requirements, but they also had to address what would happen if a fire occurred. How much impact would it have on their business? As the kitchen operations is a vital part of their business, a kitchen fire suppression system was the most sensible option to ensure the worst couldn’t occur. Now not only are they protected against loss of business from fire but they also have the peace of mind that they have implemented the most efficient way of managing fire risk. This is a requirement of the Regulatory Reform Order (RRO), of which there’s been several prison sentences issued due to non-compliance with the legislation.”
