Burglars target companies
14 Jan 2009
There have been a number of incidents where companies are having their phone lines cut to disable the alarm system and then entry gained after security, key holder or Police have carried out a check and then resumed their duties. If companies do experience the loss of telecommunications it is worth considering this is a possible reason.
A company at Laughton Rd, Dinnington had their shutters attacked on the early hours of 6th Jan. The front window was then smashed and a quantity of cigarettes were stolen. This is the fourth crime where offenders are targeting cigarettes and alcohol particularly in this area.
A company on Chesterton Rd, Eastwood were attacked overnight on 4th /5th Jan. Offenders smashed a hole in a wall and several gaming and vending machines attacked, 4 cash drawers taken with weekend takings, safe prised open and contents taken.
A clothing shop in Thurcroft was attacked 3th - -5th Jan. Offenders forced a rear door. Various items of high quality clothing were stolen along with footwear and perfume.
Ian Foster Assureds service manager commented – “we are seeing a dramatic increase of break inns especially ones where phone lines are cut or the intruder tries to disable the alarm, this compounds the requirement for a dual signaling system with mobile GSM transmission, if this is in place then if the landline goes down an alarm can still be signaled over the mobile network, we advise all our customers to take extra care when attending a call out to your alarm, stay in the car and wait for the Police or your guarding company to attend if you suspect something suspicious”.
