About CHAS
The Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme (CHAS) was formed by procurement professionals and local authority health and safety teams with the support of The Health and Safety Executive to provide an approved list of contractors who qualify to a high standard of health and safety working practices.
The list is available to all public and private sector organisations who wish to use a competent company in health and safety.
Tough entry requirements
Since the scheme started around four out of five companies fail the first stage qualifying process this includes compliance with basic health and safety law and a demonstration of management in health and safety.
CHAS also give guidance on weaknesses and improvements which can be made for any company applying for or that is part of the scheme.
How customers benefit
The main benefit to customers whose suppliers are CHAS approved is that they can be assured that the company carrying out their work has been assessed on a continual term for health and safety against government requirements.
Assured have been approved by CHAS for over 10 years and fully support any organisation that raises awareness and standards within the health and safety industry.
